The subjects covered under the science department are physics, chemistry and biology.They form foundation for most of the science oriented courses at the tertiary and university level

The main goals of science is understanding, prediction and control.
The department is responsible for planning, teaching and supporting activities of science oriented subjects performance and stem activities.
The department aim in building knowledge about the natural world which is open to questions and revisions to come up with new ideas and discover new evidences. Because it has been tested. Science knowledge is reliable.

As we focus on students’ learning needs and preferences, our department is committed to nurturing them to be confident, competent, and creative learners of English and Kiswahili languages.
Our Language teachers are committed collaborators who strive to adapt current teaching methodologies to meet the diverse learning needs of our students, always looking for opportunities and platforms to build students’ love for languages.
HoD Languages
At St. Joseph’s Ngong Sec. Sch, Technical Department offers Agriculture, Business studies, Home science and Computer studies.
These subjects have been posting good results in KCSE since 2021 with home science being the best performed subject in the school with a mean of 8.5 and Agriculture as the most improved subject with a positive deviation of 2.05.
In this department, home science has a well-equipped home science room for practicals, agriculture has a school garden for demonstrations and carrying out KNEC projects every year, and Computer studies has a well equiped computer Lab with about 25 working computers.
In business studies, our learners gain knowledge and skills on entrepreneurship and economic empowerment for self-reliance after basic education.
The department organizes academic trips at least once a year to various learning institutions for learning outside the classroom and gaining access to demonstrations.
It’s the department with great creativity and innovations, having performed a home science project in science and engineering fair up to the regional levels competition.
Sr. Dr. Lucy Ann is the Head of the Careers Department at St. Joseph’s Ngong Secondary School and a dedicated mentor to students.
With a deep passion for education and youth empowerment, she guides students in discovering their potential, exploring career opportunities, and making informed decisions for their future.
